Welcome to the Ethnic Art Dolls website.

As I created my first doll I felt myself transported to this very quiet, calm and confident place and knew that my own artistic expression had been born.  The dolls that I make are considered impressionistic in that they are not meant to be exact representations of a particular culture. Instead, they are meant to give the viewer the impression of a culture. The textiles that I utilize for a doll embodying a particular ethnic group often originate in the area of the world being represented. However, I have found that textiles produced in different parts of the world are often quite similar.

Therefore, I can use the same textiles to portray several ethnic groups.  Typically I create dolls from Third World countries as the textures and colors of their textiles, the design of their clothing, as well as the jewelry, headdresses and other exquisite adornments appeal to my artistic sense. It is my aspiration that as you observe these art dolls, you are transported to a variety of diverse cultures.

Please visit the Gallery page to see a collection of the dolls, and the Contact/Purchase page to make one of these hand-made folk art dolls your own.
